Project Description:

Originally a furniture warehouse, the two-story concrete building was constructed in the early 1970s.  Paradigm led a team to determine the as-built conditions, since design documents from the original were not available.  The initial building evaluation included excavating the soil at select locations to determine the foundation type/size, extracting concrete cores for compressive strength testing, and determining the placement of the reinforcement using ground penetrating radar.  Based on the as-built conditions, Paradigm led the testing, evaluation, and monitoring efforts for the extensive retrofitting that was required, which included fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP), epoxy-installed dowels, and structural concrete repairs.
