Healthcare

From a geotechnical and construction-materials engineering perspective, healthcare facilities share similarities with other types of high-rise and low-rise construction but it is the specialty nature of healthcare facilities that create unique challenges. Paradigm has assisted with geotechnical recommendations for biological laboratories with no tolerance for slab movement, evaluation of heavyweight concrete for radiation shielding, evaluation of sheet flooring materials for surgical and sterilization rooms, and evaluation of existing facilities where additional levels or new facilities and equipment are planned. Paradigm is experienced is addressing the challenges with specialty equipment for nondestructive testing, for example, to allow the facility to operate during the evaluation.
